What Type of Church are We?

Lighthouse Baptist Church is an independent, fundamental, Baptist church. We are God centered in our theology, zealously evangelistic, and one that is patterned after the NT church and functions according to biblical directives and principles. Our services are traditional and conservative, with the foundation of our church being the expositional preaching of the whole counsel of God. Let us unpack some of these thoughts for you.

God has established only one kind of local church, an independent church. Every local assembly is absolutely independent in the exercise of its own affairs to include: ownership of property, the election of its own officers, and discipline of its members; each church makes its own decisions regarding its problems and chooses its own objects of benevolence. The governing power of each church rests entirely with its members. Its abiding constitution is the law of Christ exclusively, i.e. the twenty-seven books of the New Testament (Mt 18:15-17; 1 Cor 5:1-13; Acts 15:4, 22, 25; Rev 1-3).

Lighthouse Baptist church is a fundamental church. Simply put a fundamental church is one that is characterized by a strict, non-negotiable, militant position that the thirty-nine Old Testament and twenty-seven New Testament books of the Bible have been breathed out by God; are inerrant, complete and therefore authoritative (2 Ti 3:16; 2 Pt 1:19-21; Jude 3).
